Artist Vignette: Karen LeBlanc

CLIENT: Conservation Council of New Brunswick

PRODUCED BY: Strike Pictures

During her Harm to Harmony residency, Karen LeBlanc decided to tackle the issues of wildfires through art. She held a workshop where people learned to weave on a branch and when everyone was done weaving, the branches were set on fire. Participants gathered around the fire to share their climate wishes and burn the woven pieces that they had just created.

While the weaving was underway, the participants were encouraged to share a bit about their relationship with fire and how it has impacted their lives up to this point. Climate change is a huge issue, but finding a community can make facing climate change less daunting!
